Preparing the databases

The databases that you prepare before deployment are determined by the optional applications you want to include. For any FileNet® Content Manager deployment, you must prepare databases for the Global Configuration Database and at least one object store.

About this task

When you configure or provision the database server, make sure that the database server or service is in the same data center or cluster as your Cloud Pak for Business Automation deployment. Typically, processes like the object store creation involve a large number of round-trip requests between the application and the database. When the latency between the applications or containers and the database server is high, such processes may not complete. Even if you tune the system to allow for such processes, it leads to performance issues in production environments. For operational and performance reasons, it is important that you maintain little latency between the applications or containers and the database server.
