Installing multiple versions of CP4BA on the same OpenShift cluster

Multiple versions of Cloud Pak for Business Automation can coexist on the same Red Hat OpenShift cluster.

About this task

The steps to install multiple versions on the same OpenShift cluster can be done in any order. For example, if you already have Cloud Pak for Business Automation 23.0.2 installed as a private catalog on the OpenShift cluster, then you can install the Cloud Pak for Business Automation 24.0.0 in a different namespace without any problem.

Attention: If you plan to install multiple versions, you must install the Cloud Pak for Business Automation versions (23.0.2 and 24.0.0) as private catalogs in different namespaces. Install the corresponding operators in A specific namespace on the cluster mode in the same namespace as the catalogs.

You cannot install Cloud Pak for Business Automation 21.0.3 and 24.0.0 on the same OpenShift cluster as private catalogs are only provided from 23.0.2.

Procedure

  1. Install Cloud Pak for Business Automation 23.0.2 as a private catalog and install the CP4BA operators in A specific namespace on the cluster mode in the same namespace as the catalog.
Tip: Make sure that you select a private catalog rather than the global catalog when you run the cp4a-clusteradmin-setup.sh script to set up the cluster.
  2. Install Cloud Pak for Business Automation 24.0.0 as a private catalog and install the CP4BA operators in A specific namespace on the cluster mode in the same namespace as the catalog.
Remember: Make sure that you select a private catalog rather than the global catalog when you run the cp4a-clusteradmin-setup.sh script to set up the cluster.

What to do next

After you completed the steps, in any order, you can continue to use all the versions of Cloud Pak for Business Automation in the same way that you do when you installed only a single version.
