Enable users and user groups to access IBM Business Automation Studio and work with business
applications and business automations. You need to perform this step only once for all Cloud Pak for Business Automation
capabilities.
About this task
Note: The Cloud Pak installs an administrator user (
admin
) and
kubeadmin
automatically. If these administrator user names also exist in your LDAP,
it results in authentication errors. For more information, see
Troubleshooting.
Procedure
- Configure your LDAP connection.
- Get the URL to log in to your IBM Cloud Pak® dashboard from your cluster web console:
- Select your namespace.
- In the left panel, select .
- Find cp4ba-access-info. You can get IBM Cloud Pak dashboard information from
bastudio-access-info.
- Select OpenShift authentication for
kubeadmin
or
IBM provided credentials (admin only; this admin user is from Step 1 a), and log in to your IBM Cloud Pak dashboard.
- Expand Administration in the left navigation and select
Access control.
- Under Roles, click Edit for the
Automation Developer role:
- Ensure Work with business applications and business automations is
selected. The permission is added to the role by default.

applications and business automations to the role.
- Under Users, add your LDAP user. Alternatively, add your LDAP user
group under User groups.
- For users and user groups, make sure Automation Developer is
selected for Roles.
These users and user groups will be able
to work with business applications and business automations from the Design
section of the left navigation.
