Preparing the databases

The databases that you prepare before deployment are determined by the optional applications you want to include. For any IBM FileNet® Content Manager Deployment, you must prepare databases for the Global Configuration Database and at least one object store.

To prepare your database:

• Follow the steps for your database type:

  Database type	Configuration steps
  Db2	Use the following information to prepare your Db2 environment: Create a Content Platform Engine user for Db2 for Linux®, UNIX, and Windows. Prepare the Db2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows server
  Oracle	Use the following information to prepare your Oracle environment: Create a Content Platform Engine database user for Oracle. Prepare Oracle server
  Microsoft SQL Server	Use the following information to prepare your Microsoft SWL Server environment: Creating a Content Platform Engine database user for SQL Server Preparing Microsoft SQL Server
  PostgreSQL	For more information about your PostgreSQL database, see Setting up a PostgreSQL database for Content Platform Engine.

• Optional: Determine your database tuning requirements.
  You can use the optional connection manager settings in the custom resource file to tune your performance according to the requirements of your environment:

  connection_manager:
    min_pool_size: 
    max_pool_size: 
    max_idle_time: 
    reap_time:  
    purge_policy:

  You can add these settings for the dc_os_datasources section to tune your object store databases and the dc_gcd_datasource section to tune your GCD database as needed.
