Fabric switch customer ports

Note: The procedures in this section describe manual fabric switch configuration, which is only required if you have NPS deployed on your system, and Cloud Pak for Data System version is 1.0.7.3 or earlier. Starting with 1.0.7.4, this step is automated on NPS systems, provided that the NPS nodes are added to the BOM.

This configuration creates a VLAN for the customer network to enter the IBM Cloud Pak for Data System network. As the VLAN interface on the nodes does not have any network services which react to broadcast requests, only traffic intended for the IBM Cloud Pak for Data System is actually serviced. Since the VLAN for the interior network does not cross the house connection, the interior service requests do not make it to the customer network.

Depending on the customer configuration, you need one of the following TEMPLATES:

  • h0.single.template: single link from single switch
  • h0.bond.template: dual link from single switch
  • h0.HAbond.template: dual link from HA Leaf set
  • h0.vlan.single.template: customer defined VLAN on single link from single switch
  • h0.vlan.bond.template: customer defined VLAN on dual link from single switch
  • h0.vlan.HAbond.template: customer defined VLAN on dual link from HA Leaf set
The template files can be found in /opt/ibm/appliance/platform/apos-comms/customer_network_config/switch_templates/. You must save the template from the folder as /etc/network/interfaces.d/h0.intf on the switch. Remember to update the VLAN value in the file.
