Using the web console

Depending on your role, you can access the web console for Cloud Pak for Data or for Cloud Pak for Data System, with different URLs.

About this task

The default system administrator apadmin can log in to the System web console. Cloud Pak for Data users can only access the Cloud Pak for Data web client.

The <domain> in the examples below is a floating public hostname that is configured during installation. From the DNS configuration perspective, a wildcard entry is recommended, so that these two services (and any additional services that may be deployed) would resolve to the floating public hostname of the System:

<domain> - Cloud Pak for Data System floating public hostname;
*.<domain> - wildcard DNS example;
icpd-system.<domain> - Cloud Pak for Data System console;
icpd-zen.<domain> - Cloud Pak for Data console;
<new-service>.<domain> - services (add-ons), if any are installed.
For more information on configuring wildcard DNS, see Setting up a wildcard DNS entry.

Procedure

  1. If you have system administrative privileges such as apadmin, you can log in to the System version of the user interface at https://icpd-system.<domain>

    Default credentials: apadmin password

    If you log in to the system web console for the first time after the system is installed, the Onboarding process is started. You must fill in all the required fields and save the changes to be able to open the Home page.

    On the left, click the Navigation Menu > Software overview to access the Cloud Pak for Data web client by clicking Cloud Pak for Data.

  2. As an application user, you can log in to the Cloud Pak for Data web client at https://icpd-zen.<domain>
    Note: When migrating from Cloud Pak for Data System version 1.0, you must first retrieve the default admin user password as described in Collecting the Cloud Pak for Data admin user password
