Using the web client

Depending on your role, you can access Cloud Pak for Data web client in two versions, the standard version, and the extended version for system administrators, with different URLs.

About this task

The system administrator apadmin can log in to the extended System web console by default. Cloud Pak for Data users without the admin privileges can only use the standard Cloud Pak for Data web client.
Note:

The default apadmin user has an alias name admin for web console operations. The web console can use admin or apadmin, which internally point to the same user: apadmin and they both have the same password. The web console operations are operated using username: admin and the platform CLI operations are operated with username: apadmin.

The <domain> in the examples below is a floating public hostname that is configured during installation. From the DNS configuration perspective, a wildcard entry is recommended, so that these two services (and any additional services that may be deployed) would resolve to the floating public hostname of the System:

<domain> - Cloud Pak for Data System floating public hostname;
*.<domain> - wildcard DNS example;
icpd-system.<domain> - Cloud Pak for Data System console;
icpd-zen.<domain> - Cloud Pak for Data console;
<new-service>.<domain> - services (add-ons), if any are installed.
For more information on configuring wildcard DNS, see Setting up a wildcard DNS entry.
