Configuring access to the IBM Support servers

If you use Call Home to open cases, make sure that Cloud Pak for Data System can communicate with the IBM Support servers.

When the Call Home service uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)/Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) access method for events that trigger on your system, the system uses port 443 (HTTPS) to send those messages to IBM Support servers. The following table lists the currently available IBM Support server and its IP addresses. Make sure that the system can send outgoing messages via port 443 to any of these addresses. It is recommended that you open the 129.42.0.0/18 subnet for the most flexibility if your IT security policies permit that.

Important: You must update the new Call Home IP addresses before the target dates mentioned in the table because the old IP addresses will be disabled from 1 June 2023.

The HTTPS/SOAP method for the Call Home service also sends an email to your customer contacts when a case has been created. Make sure that you consult with your IT security and networking team about the corporate firewall support for the outbound SMTP and port 443 HTTPS traffic. If there are questions about the Call Home support, or if the Call Home test messages do not appear to be working, contact IBM Support for assistance.
