Upgrading Cloud Pak for Data System
This section describes how to upgrade Cloud Pak for Data System.
- Due to the discontinuance of full support for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.11 on June 30, 2022, it is removed from the system. Version 1.0.7.8 disables all software components related to Cloud Pak for Data. This includes Red Hat OpenShift, Portworx, and the Cloud Pak for Data application itself together with its add-ons (excluding Netezza Performance Server).
- Netezza® Performance Server and Cloud Pak for Data System releases are independent of each other. The Netezza Performance Server release that is mentioned in the table is the latest release that was available at the time, but it does not mean only this release is supported. It is always recommended to have the latest Netezza Performance Server/Cloud Pak for Data System version.

About this task
The upgrade bundles can be downloaded from Fix Central.
Starting February 2021, security patches are provided as a separate bundle distributed on Fix Central periodically, between full releases of the product. Starting with version 1.0.7.6, each full release will contain all the security patches that have been released since the last full release. Separate release notes are published for each security patch. For the instructions on installing a security patch, see ../../SS5FPD_1.0.0/admin/icpds_upgrade_security.html.
The prerequisite steps and the upgrade instructions vary depending on the version that you are upgrading to. Follow the instructions that apply to your version.
- Extended Life-Cycle Support (ELS) for RHEL 7.9
-
Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS) for RHEL 7.9 was established for Cloud Pak for Data System 1.0.8.x on 30 June 2024. RHEL 7.9 remains a fully supported release for Netezza until Cloud Pak for Data System 1.0.9.0 with RHEL 8.x is released. The target date for the 1.0.9.0 release is 31 March 2025.
When 1.0.9.0 with RHEL 8.x is released, it will be a fully supported release for Netezza, covered by Extended Update Support (EUS) from Red Hat.
Cloud Pak for Data System continues to receive support for Red Hat-defined Critical and Important Security errata advisories (RHSAs) and High Priority Bug Fix errata advisory (RHBAs) during the Extended Life-Cycle Support (ELS) time period.
After the 1.0.9.0 release date, Extended Life-Cycle Support (ELS) for RHEL 7.9 will be extended for an extra 6 months to allow you to move to RHEL 8.x. After this 6-month grace period, no bug fixes, security fixes, troubleshooting, or root-cause analysis will be available for RHEL 7.9.
