Disabling a node
If you need to add or replace a node or replace a component on a node, you can disable it for the time of service works so that the system does not report errors.
About this task
When a node is disabled:
- It is no longer used to host Cloud Pak for Data System containers.
- It is still monitored.
- No alerts are sent for it.
- No automatic recovery is performed.
Note: Before disabling the control node, which also serves as a Hub node, ensure that it does not
interrupt any function.
Note:
- Disabling a node when Cloud Pak for Data System is running produces a short outage lasting a few minutes.
- It is not possible to disable nodes when the system application is starting, stopping, or recovering.
Procedure
Use the ap node disable enclosureX.nodeY command, where X is the
enclosure number, and Y is the node number in that enclosure.
