Creating Slack integrations

A Slack integration connects the collaborative ChatOps capabilities of Slack to IBM Cloud Pak® for Watson AIOps.

Before you set up your Slack integration, you must create your bot and configure Slack to communicate with IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps. For more information about configuring Slack applications, see Configuring Slack applications for integration.

For more information about working with Slack integrations, see the following sections:

Note: Your Slack integration must be created before the Event Manager Gateway is installed. For more information, see Postinstallation tasks.

Creating Slack integrations

To complete your Slack integration, you need four pieces of information:

Obtaining these values require you to have the following prerequisites:

Important: You can create only one ChatOps integration (Microsoft Teams or Slack) per instance.

For more information about setting up and configuring Slack for integration, see Configuring Slack for integration.

To create a Slack integration, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps.
  2. From the console, click the navigation menu (four horizontal bars), then click Define > Data and tool integrations.
  3. On the Slack tile, click Add integration.

Note: If you do not immediately see the integration that you want to create, you can filter the tiles by type of integration. Click the type of integration that you want in the Category section.

  4. Enter the following integration information:

You can test your integration connection by clicking Test connection.

  5. Click Integrate.

You have created a Slack integration within your instance. Unlike log or event integrations, you do not need to enable ChatOps integrations after you create the integration. Once you create the integration and set up Slack, you can verify that everything is working by issuing test commands in Slack.

To create more integrations (such as a ChatOps integration), see Configuring data and tool integrations.

For more information about working with the insights provided by your integrations, see ChatOps insight management.
