Creating the data flow

To use Cloud Pak for AIOps data in IBM Cognos Analytics visualizations, you must create a data flow to an external IBM Db2 database. Before creating a data flow to the database, an appropriate schema must be applied first. For more information, see Setting up the reporting schema.

There are two ways to configure this flow:

• Data flow configuration for IBM Db2

  This provides a direct flow into IBM Db2 using the IBM Db2 integration, and can be controlled by using a policy. This is the recommended approach.

• Data flow configuration for IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact

  This provides an indirect flow into IBM via IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact, and can also be controlled by using a policy. If you are an existing IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact user, then you might choose this option to access additional policy capabilities available in IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact.

Once the flow is in place, you can then create a Data Module in IBM Cognos Analytics to start working with the data. See Creating a Data Module.
