Managing Email Configuration

You can configure primary and secondary SMTP Email servers and manage their configurations.

Managing Email Configuration:

Note: If you close the window without saving during create or manage operations, then the values are reset to empty.

Configure Email Server

From the Email configuration page, you can create an email server configuration.

  1. In the navigation bar, click Automate Infrastructure > Manage. Click the Email configuration tab.

  2. Click Create configuration.

  3. Select either of the following options in the Assign access section:

    • Make email server globally accessible (available to all users) - Email servers created globally are accessible by all users.
    • Make connection part of a namespace - Associate the email server with a specific namespace. For this option, select a namespace from the drop-down list to which the email server will be assigned.

    Note:

    • Based on the value selected in the namespaces drop-down list on the Email configuration main page, the Assign access and namespace values are automatically selected. Modify the values if you want.
    • If there is already a configuration available for the selected namespace, then those details are automatically pre-filled.
  4. Select Primary or Secondary type.

  5. Enter the following details of the configuration:

    • SMTP hostname - Enter the host name of the SMTP server.

      Note: If running behind a proxy server, enter the proxy server host name or IP address.

    • SMTP port - Enter the port of the SMTP server.

    • SMTP username - Optionally, enter the user name of the SMTP server. Note: Whenever an email notification is sent, the SMTP username is used as the sender email address.

    • SMTP password - Optionally, enter the password of the SMTP user.

    • Test email recipient - Optionally, enter the email address to which a test email will be sent, if requested. Note: To send a test email, click the here link. A message appears confirming the success or failure of the test email.

  6. Click Save.

  7. SMTP server details are shown in the Email server configurations table.

Searching SMTP Configuration

From the Email configuration page, you can search for an email server configuration.

  1. In the navigation bar, click Automate Infrastructure > Manage. Click the Email configuration tab.

  2. Search for your email server configuration by using any of the following search filters:

    • Enter the host name in Search email configurations.
    • Click the Namespace column heading to sort the table by namespace.
    • At the bottom of the table, you can use the Email configurations per page drop-down to select the number of records you want to display in a page at a time. Use the < and > to navigate to the previous and next page.
    • You can select a namespace from the namespaces drop-down list. The list of email server configurations change based on the selected namespace. Along with the records for the selected namespace, all globally accessible records are also shown in the list. You can also select All namespaces to see all the configurations for which you have access. Each namespace can have a maximum of two configurations.

Editing SMTP Configuration

From the Email configuration page, you can edit an email server configuration.

  1. In the navigation bar, click Automate Infrastructure > Manage. Click the Email configuration tab.
  2. In the Email server configurations table, click the overflow menu of your SMTP server.
  3. Click Edit. Note: You can also click the servers hostname to edit it.
  4. The Assign access and Type are read-only and cannot be changed.
  5. If you want to send a test email, provide a Test email recipient and click the here link. A test email is sent to this email address. A message appears confirming the success or failure of the test email.
  6. Modify the details and Save.

Deleting SMTP Configuration

From the Email configuration page, you can delete an email server configuration.

  1. In the navigation bar, click Automate Infrastructure > Manage. Click the Email configuration tab.
  2. In the Email server configurations table, click the overflow menu of your SMTP server.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. In the Remove email server message box, click Delete to confirm the deletion.
