Metric anomaly forecasts

Forecasting can indicate when an alert can become critical and help avoid an outage. Use the metric anomaly details chart to view forecasts for a metric anomaly.

Procedure

Open the metric anomaly details chart, as normal (see Viewing metric anomaly details, for more information).

The forecasted trend is the area of the chart that has a dashed (--) line rather than an unbroken (–) line, which indicates historical data. The dashed line might have a purple "confidence interval" around it that shows the likely range of values for the forecast. In some cases, this confidence interval is not shown due to a high level of error that would result in large confidence intervals.

To get more a detailed view of where historical data ends and forecasted data begins, expand the chart by

  • clicking and dragging the gray tab with the three vertically aligned dots on the side panel
  • or clicking the maximize icon
  • or clicking View expanded chart
