Configuring topology user preferences
Set your personal preferences for how topologies are rendered.
About this task
The settings that can personalize are grouped into the following categories:
- Updates
- Layout
- Miscellaneous
Procedure
You can access the user preferences settings while viewing a topology or from the Resource manager page.

Log in to the IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps console.

From the main navigation, expand Operate and click Resource management.

Click the Settings icon that is next to the search field. Click User preferences.

Update the setting for any user preference setting that you want to change.

Click Save when you complete your changes and return to the topology view.
You must reopen the page before any changes to this user preference take effect.
Updates
These settings determine how and how often topologies are automatically updated.

Default auto refresh rate (seconds)

Maximum number of resources and relationships to load with auto refresh enabled
When the set resource limit is reached, auto-refresh is turned off. The maximum value is 2000
. By default, the value is set to 500
.
Tip: If you find that the default value is too high and negatively impacts your topology viewer's performance, reduce this value.

Auto render new resources
- Enable this option to display new resources at the next scheduled or manual refresh as soon as they are detected. By default, this setting is disabled.

Remove deleted topology resources
- Enable this option to remove deleted resources at the next scheduled or manual refresh. By default, this setting is disabled.
Layout
These settings determine the default presentation of topologies. You can select the layout type to use for rendering a topology by default. In addition, for some layouts you can select to change the layout orientation for how the layout is displayed.
Tip: A change to a layout type is tracked in the URL (layout orientation is not tracked). You can manually edit your URL to change the layout type display settings.

Information message auto hide timeout (seconds)
The number of seconds that information messages are displayed in the IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps console. The default is

.Tip: If you are using a screen reader, it may be helpful to increase this value to ensure that you do not miss a message.

Screen reader support for graphical topology
- You can enable the display for more Help text on-screen elements, which can improve the usability of screen readers. By default, this setting is disabled.

Client-side debug logging (on supported browsers)
- Enhanced client-side ability to log problem diagnosis. If enabled, more debug output is generated, which you can use for defect isolation. By default, this setting is disabled.
Tip: Use this for specific defect hunting tasks, and then disable it again. If this setting is left enabled, the Topology viewer performance can be reduced.
