Managing the usage of virtual machines in Managed services
You can keep a track of all virtual machines that are deployed on a system to arrive at the charges. The Usage page shows the highest number of virtual machines managed by Managed services each month. An average number of virtual Process Cores (VPC) per virtual machine can be entered to show the maximum and average VPCs managed each month.
About the task
You can see this option only if you log in as a cluster administrator.
The page fetches usage data only for the last 13 months.
To retrieve the currently deployed virtual machines, maximum number of virtual machines for each month, or to download the managed virtual machines report by using APIs, see Usage specific APIs.
Procedure
- Click Manage > Usage.
- View the Current usage section to get the number of currently actively deployed virtual machines.
- In the Usage page, select your average VPCs per virtual machine. Based on the value entered, the VPCs managed is calculated. The formula used for the calculation is VMs managed * Average VPCs per VM. The monthly usage report table is populated based on your selection.
- Go through the monthly usage table to get information about the month of usage, peak usage (maximum VMs and VPCs managed) for that month, and average usage (Average VMs managed and Average VPCs managed) for that month.
- You can use the pagination drop-down to select the number of records you want to display in a page at a time. Use the > or < to go through the next or previous set of records.
- You can click the Download link option on table to download the report in a spreadsheet format. The downloaded report includes the following information - ID, iaas resource id, name, id from provider, type from provider, provider, tenant id, namespace, action, and timestamp.
