Viewing template instance details

After you deploy a template, you can view the related instance details and perform actions on the related resources.

You can also use the Managed services API to import a virtual machine as a stack instance. The instance details for the imported virtual machine can be viewed and actions performed on the related resources. For more information, see Importing existing VMware vSphere virtual machine or Importing an existing PowerVC or OpenStack virtual machine.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation bar, click Automate Infrastructure > Instances. Click the Terraform templates tab.

  2. Search for your instance.

Note: You can also use the following search filters:

    • Enter the name of the instance in the search instance filter.
    • Click the show filter icon to list template instances based on the selected provider.
    • You can click the column headings to sort the list.
    • You can select a namespace from the All namespaces drop-down list. The list of template instances in the page changes based on the selected namespace. You can also select "All namespaces" to see all the template instances for which you have access.

Use the Instances per page drop-down to select the number of instances to display per page. Use the > or < to go to the next or previous page.

  3. Click the instance for which you want to see the details. The Overview tab of the instance is displayed.

    • From the Overview tab, you can see the instance status, template information, instance information, resource details, and the input and output variables. For each resource, you can access the console (if existing) and perform the actions that are listed by clicking the overflow menu.

Note: To access the KVM console in the IBM Cloud Customer Portal, you must follow the procedure described in Access the KVM Console External link icon.

    • From the Modify tab, you can modify the instance. For more information about how to modify Resources and Parameters, see Modifying a deployed template instance.

    • From the Log file tab, you can view and copy the instance log.

Note: If the Log exceeds the maximum size of 200 KB, then only the last 200 KB of the Log is displayed.
