Configuring the Retry and Inactivity properties

The Probe for HP Operations Manager has a timeout facility that allows it to disconnect from the HP Operations Manager server if it does not receive an event within a specified amount of time. To specify how long the probe waits before disconnecting from the target system, set the Inactivity property.

After the specified length of time, the probe disconnects from the HP Operations Manager server and sends a ProbeWatch message to the ObjectServer. When used with the Retry property the probe will attempt to reconnect to the target device a number of times before disconnecting. If the Retry property is set to 0, the probe disconnects after a single period of inactivity.
