Heartbeat events
The probe has a heartbeat facility that allows it to send an event to the Tivoli EIF device.
You can specify the frequency (in seconds) with which the probe sends a heartbeat event to the Tivoli EIF device using the EIFHeartBeatInterval property. This heartbeat event can be used to check that the probe is gathering events from the Tivoli EIF device.
You can configure the probe to shutdown if it detects that the probe is not gathering Tivoli EIF events by using the EIFHeartBeatFailures property. Set the number of successive heartbeat failures the probe counts before automatically shutting down. If you set the property to 0, the probe will not automatically shut down.
If you set the EIFHeartBeatInterval property to 0, the probe will not generate heartbeat interval messages and will ignore the value set for the EIFHeartBeatFailures property. The probe will not generate heartbeat messages and therefore, will not detect failures, and will not shut down automatically.
