Visualizing dashboards and reports

IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps includes support for analyzing and visualizing data through an integration with IBM Cognos Analytics. IBM Cognos Analytics provides powerful reporting, modeling, analysis, exploration, dashboards, and a story building tool, so you can understand your organization's data in a way that suits you, and make effective business decisions. The integration includes tools to leverage key data and widgets from within IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps, a seamless navigation experience featuring Single Sign on and one click direct access, and a collection of resources to get you started.

Note:

You can also use the UI extension toolkit for additional dashboard use cases. The toolkit enables you to embed existing dashboards into Cloud Pak for AIOps from sources such as Grafana or Impact Operator views and write your own dashboards with code that can then be deployed directly to your cluster.

Overview

The integration provides a link between the following components:

  • IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps (on Red Hat OpenShift)
  • IBM Db2 (on a virtual machine)
  • IBM Cognos Analytics (on a virtual machine)

IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps provides the data for IBM Db2, through a Db2 Integration and also provides single sign-on to IBM Cognos Analytics using its authentication configuration so you can work with the same user accounts across both products. IBM Cognos Analytics can then leverage the data stored in IBM Db2 to allow the creation of dashboards, reports and more, while also accessing certain IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps context directly. Note:
  • The IBM Db2 integration is not enabled for deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Linux. As such, this functionality is not enabled for deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Linux.
  • Entitlement to IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps provides limited entitlement to using IBM Cognos Analytics and IBM Db2 for IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps data sources only. Review the IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps license terms.

IBM Cognos Analytics is a proven, self-service, dependable analytics solution that provides scalability and analytics governance.

With IBM Cognos Analytics dashboards, you can build visualizations of your IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps data, such as alert and topology data, to monitor your data at a glance. IBM Cognos Analytics includes a wide range of customizable visualization options to help you create these interactive dashboards. You can then use the exploration, analysis, and reporting capabilities within IBM Cognos Analytics to discover patterns and relationships and gain further insights into your IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps data.

With IBM Cognos Analytics reports, you can use the provided web-based report authoring tool to build sophisticated, multiple-page, multiple-query reports whenever you require, such as for creating alert resolution rates or impacted resource reports.

When you set up this integration, you can open IBM Cognos Analytics from the Cloud Pak for AIOps console.
