Data and tool connections

Using the Data and tool connections capability you can connect data sources to provide data that helps gather insights for your environment.

The main Data and tool connections page now has two tabs: the Manage connections tab, and the Schedule connections tab.

On the Manage connections tab, you can add connections, and view a list of links to previously added connection types, which when clicked, provide further information. On the Manage connections tab, clicking the options menu (three vertical dots) of a connection allows you to 'edit' or 'delete' that particular connection.

On the Schedule connections tab, you can manage and view your scheduled connections, and also to 'edit the schedule' of a connection, by using the options menu (three vertical dots) of that particular connection.

On the Data and tool connections All connections page, you can search and sort connections based on category, by using the search bar. You use the catalog page to create integrations.

You are aided by the relevant side-panel that pops up for each of the connection types you select, giving detailed information on what is needed to complete the forms.

Incoming connections provide data to IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps. Outgoing connections report findings from IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps to supported ChatOps interfaces and ServiceNow. Some connections are bidirectional. For example, to have a successfully operating instance of IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, you might configure a Slack outgoing connection for ChatOps, a Falcon Logscsale incoming connection for log data, and a ServiceNow connection for change risk and similar ticket data.

Outgoing connections must be publicly accessible. If your cluster is behind a firewall, for example, it must be tunneled through something, such as Secure Tunnel. If you previously exposed your host for one outgoing connection, you do not need to configure it for other outgoing connections.

Note: When you configure connections for IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, your browser might give you an option to save key, token, or password-type fields. For security purposes, do not save these values. Turn off autofill or autosave settings in your browser, or exercise caution with these features.
