License entitlements
A IBM Cloud Pak® for Watson AIOps license provides entitlement to deploy:
- IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps 4.1.1
- IBM® Tivoli® Netcool®/OMNIbus
- IBM Watson® AIOps Metric Manager
In terms of capabilities with IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps there are three categories of licensed entitlement:
- Event processing and analytics
- Metric processing and analytics
- Log processing and analytics
Each entitlement provides access to different capabiliites. To access the entitled capabilities, you need to deploy the required configuration. For more information about the supported deployment scenarios, see Deployment scenarios.
The following table identifies the general capabilities available with each entitlement and the instance that must be deployed to access the capabilities.

License tracking
As part of using IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, tracking your license usage is required. Although IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps provides license options not tracked directly by the product, to track usage, you must deploy the IBM Cloud Pak foundational services License Service on all clusters where IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps is installed.
IBM Cloud Pak foundational services License Service
This background License Service collects and stores the license usage information at the cluster level for tracking license consumption and for audit purposes. You can retrieve this data upon request for monitoring and compliance. You can also retrieve an audit snapshot of the data that is audit evidence.
Note: For IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, the license service collects usage data for only IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps. Although IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps provides license options not tracked directly by the product, to track usage, you must deploy the IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps License Service on all clusters where IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps is installed.
