IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern for virtual systems

IBM® Db2® with BLU Acceleration® Pattern is a plug-in that you can use to deploy database patterns and administer database instances on the virtual machines in the system. The plug-in contains default database patterns that you can immediately deploy, or you can create customized database patterns if you want to customize the configuration settings. Using database patterns can help you to eliminate the redundancies and issues that can result from manually creating database instances repeatedly.

In IBM Cloud Pak System and IBM Cloud Pak System Software

The Db2 License is not included with Db2 pattern type for IBM Cloud Pak System and IBM Cloud Pak System Software offerings. You must bring your own Db2 License (BYOL).

New deployments:

You must bring your own license (BYOL) and must provide it during deployment. From the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface, under the Db2Server section, upload the compressed license file in Db2 License File. If the compressed license file contains the OEM license as well, then provide the name of this license in Db2 OEM License File Name.

Updating the existing deployed instances(using Check for updates )

If you want to update the existing Db2 V11.5 Instances to later versions of Db2 pattern type , upload the compressed license file with the file name as db2license.zip by using the phuploader utility in Storehouse under admin/files/db2server/licenses/ before you click Check for updates on the Virtual System Instance. You can find and download the phuploaderutility (Db2_License_phuploader_v1.0 for Version 2.3.4 or Db2_License_phuploader_v2.0 for Version 2.3.4.1 or later) from IBM Fix Central for your use.

See the steps to upload the db2license.zip file that are specified in the readme file inside the phuploader utility. If the license files contain the Db2 OEM license file as well, do not rename the OEM license file and maintain the same file name (db2hc.lic). For example, the db2license.zip folder structure is as follows, which must not contain any folders inside the db2license.zip file. Verify it before you upload it to Storehouse:

  • db2license.zip > db2adv_vpc.lic
  • db2license.zip > db2std_o.lic, db2hc.lic
