Verifying the compatibility of the local and remote systems

Verify that system level restrictions are satisfied to prevent compatibility errors between the local and remote systems before enabling block storage replication.

1. Ensure that the platform portion (the first four digits) of the model number for both the local system and the remote system are of the same platform.
   To locate the system model, do the following steps:

   1. From the console, click Problem determination > System > System Troubleshooting.
   2. Expand the Vendor Information section.
   3. Scroll through the pages of the table and locate the row with Rack in the Type column.
   4. Find the system model number in the Model column.
2. Ensure that both systems have a block storage replication profile defined and configured to support block storage replication between them.

3. Ensure that the firmware levels that correspond to the Cloud Pak System version on the local and remote systems are the same. The firmware level is displayed on the System Troubleshooting page in the lower right corner.
