Deprecated functions and replacements

Several functions are deprecated in this IBM® Cloud Pak System release. The deprecated functions are still supported for compatibility with an earlier version. However, they are no longer enhanced and must not be used for new deployments or implementations.

As the deprecated feature is fully supported only until the end of support date, customers must make plans to move to the suggested replacements or an alternate feature before the end of support date.

Windows Pattern kit

Windows Pattern kit is not supported in IBM Cloud Pak System version 2.3.4.1 and later    
IBM Cloud Pak System Software on Bring Your Own Hardware (BYOHw) for Intel is deprecated With this deprecation, IBM Cloud Pak System Software on Bring Your Own Hardware (BYOHw) for Intel is not available from Version 2.3.4.
Note: You can run only on the IBM Cloud Pak System appliances that are Intel-based.

Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL) 7.9 is deprecated from IBM Cloud Pak System 2.3.4.0 and later

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9 is deprecated from IBM Cloud Pak System 2.3.4.0 and later. For more information, see https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/linux-platforms/enterprise-linux/rhel-7-end-of-maintenance. If you are using a 7.x image, migrate to 8.8.

Host Management with Goferd and Katello Agent Use Remote execution as a replacement for Host management with Goferd and Katello Agent. For more information, see Migrating Hosts From Katello Agent to Remote Execution.
Note:
  • The Katello agent package and the goferd service are not installed by default. You must manage virtual machines through a remote execution.
  • The Katello Agent is deprecated and will be removed in a future Satellite version.

Docker Private Registry pattern Docker Private Registry pattern is deprecated. The same function can now be used from the Cloud Paks Docker Private Registry pattern by selecting Registry Node > import_ocp_docker_images > ocpversions > None in the Deploy page of the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface.    
Docker Configuration page is deprecated from IBM Cloud Pak System With this deprecation, the Docker Configuration page under Pattern development is removed and is no longer available on the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface.
