Passive Takeover operation
Run this operation to activate a IBM Storage Scale Passive configuration to replace a IBM Storage Scale Primary configuration to which it is attached.
Before you begin
About this task
This operation is the last action you need to run to make the Passive configuration into a Primary configuration. When this operation completes, the Passive configuration must behave like a Primary configuration. A client should be able to access the IBM Storage Scale shared file systems using the IBM Storage Scale Manager virtual machine for this new Primary configuration.
When the Passive configuration becomes the Primary configuration, all IBM Storage Scale client requests are routed to this new Primary configuration, so the original Primary configuration can go off line, either for a maintenance window or due to unexpected failures.
Procedure
- Expand the Failover Active-Passive section of the GPFS_Manager operations.
- Expand the Passive Takeover node.
- Click Submit.
- Click Confirm when asked to validate your request.
Results
- Starts all IBM Storage Scale Server nodes
on this Passive configuration by running the following GPFS command:
/usr/lpp/mmfs/bin/mmstartup -a
A new entry is displayed under the Operation Execution Results list, with the name Passive Takeover. When completed, the status of the operation changes from Active to Done, and the Return Value column displays the result of the operation as a link.
When you click the link, a new tab opens and shows the output of the operation. Verify that there are no errors in this log.
