Preparing compute nodes for service

To prepare a compute node for service, determine if you need to evacuate instances to another compute node, put the compute node in maintenance mode, and power off the device.

Procedure

  1. Enable ibmeng access for the IBM service representative.

  2. Check the available resources in the cloud groups.
    See Viewing compute node reports and Viewing cloud group reports.
  3. If possible, quiesce the compute node.
    See Starting and quiescing compute nodes.
  4. If possible, put the compute node in maintenance mode.

  5. If possible, power off the compute node.
