Configuring port mirroring

Use the console to configure port mirroring.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the Hardware administration role with permission to Manage hardware resources (Full permission) to perform these steps.

About this task

Port mirroring is disabled by default. You can configure your switch to enable port mirroring through the console.

Procedure

  1. Click System > Network Configuration.
  2. In the Optional section, expand the node for Additional Networking Features.
  3. Select Port Mirroring to configure port mirroring.
  4. In Monitor Port 1(Required) and optionally, Monitor Port 2(Optional), select ports for monitoring use.
    Two monitor ports are available for port mirroring. Each monitor port can monitor many mirror ports.
    Important: Monitor Port 1(Required) and Monitor Port 2(Optional) cannot monitor the same mirror port.
  5. Click Add Port Mirror for each port mirror that you want to configure.
    1. Select a Monitor Port from the available list.
    2. Select a Mirroring port from the available list.
      A copy of the network packets sent to this port will also be sent to the monitor port.
    3. Select one of the available options from the Traffic Direction list to indicate the monitoring direction of the packets.
    4. Click Confirm to add your entry to the port mirror table.
  6. Once you have completed adding your port mirrors, click Save to save the new port mirror configurations to the switch.
    The screen refreshes once the save operation has completed.
