You can export volume groups to remote servers by Secure
Copy Protocol (SCP).
Before you begin
You must be assigned System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission) to
perform these steps.You
must be assigned one of the following permissions to export volume
groups:
- System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission)
- Resource level administration role with Write or All access rights permission (ACL) for a specific instance
About this task
You can use the console, the command line interface, or the REST API to complete this task. For the command line and REST API information, see the Related information section.
Procedure
- Click .
The list of available volume groups is displayed in a table
format.
- Locate the volume group to export, and click the Export icon
in the Actions column for the selected volume group.
- Enter the configuration values in the fields provided:
- Remote host
- The fully qualified host name or IP address of the host system
where the exported volume group data will be stored.
- Remote port
- The port number for the specified remote host system.
- User name
- The user name with appropriate credentials to access the remote
host system.
Example: Admin

- Password
- The password associated with the specified user name.
- Remote path
- The directory path on the remote system where the exported volume
group data will be stored.
Example: /export/svg
- Click OK to proceed or click Cancel to
cancel the export request.
If you proceed, the volume group
is exported to the remote system. While the export operation is in
progress, the status of the volume group changes to Pending
.
When the process completes, the status changes to Available
.
