You can use the console to clone
volume groups.
Before you begin
You must be assigned System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission) to
perform these steps.You
must be assigned one of the following permissions to clone volume
groups:
- System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission)
- Resource level administration role with Write or All access rights permission (ACL) for a specific instance
About this task
You can use the console, the command line interface, or the REST API to complete this task. For the command line and REST API information, see the Related information section.
Procedure
- Click .
- Locate the volume group to clone in the list of available
volume groups.
- Clone the volume group.
You can click the name
of the volume group to display the details, and then click the Clone icon
in the toolbar or you can click the Clone icon
in the Actions column for the selected volume
group.
- Enter the configuration values in the fields provided to
define the new volume group that you want to be the clone of the selected
volume group:
- Name
- Enter a name for the new volume group.
- Description
- Enter a description of the new volume group.
- In Cloud Group
- Select the cloud group that the cloned volume group belongs
to.
Note: (none) is the only option if the volume group contains a volume.
- Volume naming configuration
- Select one of the following options to name the cloned volumes
in the new volume group:
- Default naming
- The names of the cloned volumes are made up of the name of the original volume with a timestamp
appended to it.
- Custom naming
- Enter new volume names in the New name field.
- Click OK to proceed or Cancel to
cancel the request.
If you proceed, the new volume group
is added to the system. While this is in process, the status of the
volume group is Pending
. When the process completes,
the status changes to Available
.
