Adding volume groups

You might want to add a volume group for better management of your volumes.

Before you begin

You must be assigned System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission) to perform these steps.

About this task

You can use the console, the command line interface, or the REST API to complete this task. For the command line and REST API information, see the Related information section.

Procedure

  1. Click Cloud > Volume Groups.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Enter a name for the volume group in the Name field.
  4. Optional: Enter a description of the volume group in the Description field.
  5. In the In cloud group field, select from the list of available cloud groups, the cloud group to assign to the new volume group.
  6. Click OK.
    The new volume group is added to the system. While this is in process, the status of the volume group is Pending. When the process completes, the status changes to Available.
