Configuring IP addresses for IP-based block disk replication

By using IP to transport block storage replication traffic instead of fiber channels, you avoid the extra hardware costs associated with fiber-based block disk replication.

Before you begin

About this task

This task is optional. Complete the steps in this task only when using IP to handle all block storage replication traffic.

Procedure

  1. Click System > Network Configuration.
  2. To configure IP addresses, under Optional, expand the node for Additional IPs for storage device for block disk replication.
  3. In the Management Port section, define a port to be used for storage device management. In sections Replication Port 1 and Replication Port 2, define ports for data traffic replication use.
    1. In the IP Address field, specify the IP address of the port.
IP addresses for the Management Port, Replication Port 1 and Replication Port 2 can be on the same customer data VLAN or associated with different customer data VLANs.
Important: The configuration will fail if the IP address is already defined in another IP group.
    2. In the VLAN field, specify the VLAN ID of the VLAN selected in the VLANs and Links section with the type IP Group.
    3. In the Gateway field, specify the gateway for the VLAN.
    4. In the Netmask field, specify the netmask for the VLAN.
  4. After specifying all required information, click Save.
  5. Click System > Job Queue.Verify that three new jobs of the type storage controller ports and of action configureIPBaseReplication are running and complete successfully.
  6. To verify connectivity, you can ping the IP address that you configured from another machine on the same VLAN.
