Before you begin
- The pattern type is in use. For example, the pattern type is associated with a deployed pattern (instance).
- The pattern type is a prerequisite of another pattern type, such as IBM® Foundation Pattern.

Results
When you delete all versions and releases of a pattern type, the files that are associated with that pattern type are deleted from storehouse. For example, if you have versions 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.2 of a pattern on the system, the files are deleted from storehouse when you delete both versions of the pattern type. If multiple pattern types are installed through the same .tgz file, the files for the pattern type are deleted from storehouse only when all pattern types with the same version and release installed through that .tgz file are deleted.
If only one version of the pattern type is deleted, the artifacts that are associated with the pattern type, such as binary files, are not deleted from storehouse. If two versions of a pattern type are installed on the system, such as OPM 1.0.2.0 and OPM 1.0.2.1, and you delete the OPM 1.0.2.0 pattern type, but not the OPM 1.0.2.1 pattern type, the artifacts for both versions remain in storehouse. The reason is that the later version of the pattern type, 1.0.2.1, might contain only fixes and not the full artifacts, such as the binary files, to avoid duplication and pattern deployments would fail if the artifacts from the earlier version were deleted from storehouse.
