Restarting System Monitoring shared service components in external mode

Restart components of an external System Monitoring shared service to perform such actions as allowing configuration changes to take effect.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the following roles to perform this task:
  • Allow delegation when full permission is selected
  • Workload resources administration role with permission to Manage workload resources (Full permission)
  • Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud groups (Read-only)
  • Hardware administration role with permission to View all hardware resources (Read-only)
  • Security administration role with permission to View users/groups (Read-only)

Procedure

  1. Click Patterns > Shared Services Instances. If you are on 2.3.3.3, click Patterns > Manage > Shared Service Instances. The Shared Service Instances page displays the list of shared services, grouped by shared service type. The list is displayed in a table format, providing some basic details about each shared service.
    The following functions are available for you to work with the list of shared service instances:
    Refresh
    Refreshes the status of the shared service instances and updates the fields on the Shared Service Instances page.
    Create New
    Click Create New to create a new shared service instance.
    Filter
    Enter a term that is used to filter the shared service instances that display on the page.
  2. Select the external System Monitoring instance whose components you want to restart.

  3. Click the Manage icon.
    The Instance Console window opens and the Monitoring pane is displayed.
  4. Click the Operation tab.
    The Operations pane is displayed.
  5. Select the TEMS role.
  6. Depending on the component you want to restart, do one of the following steps:
    • If you want to restart the remote monitoring server:
      1. Click the plus sign (+) beside Restart Remote Server.
      2. In the Virtual Machine IP Address field, enter the IP address of the virtual machine that hosts the remote monitoring server.
      3. Click Submit to confirm.
    • If you want to restart the Warehouse Proxy Agent:
      1. Click the plus sign (+) beside Restart Warehouse Proxy Agent.
      2. In the Virtual Machine IP Address field, enter the IP address of the virtual machine that hosts the Warehouse Proxy Agent.
      3. Click Submit to confirm.
    • If you want to restart the Cloud Pak System Software Agent:
      1. Click the plus sign (+) beside RestartCloud Pak System Software Agent.
      2. Click Submit to confirm.

Results

The status and result of the operation is shown in the Operation Execution Results panel. When the value of the Status column becomes done, the selected component of the external System Monitoring shared service is restarted.
