Configuring the system name

Customize the system name to uniquely identify a Cloud Pak System Software system when running in the same virtual manager cloud group with other Cloud Pak System Software systems.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the Hardware administration role with permission to Manage hardware resources (Full permission) to perform these steps.

About this task

Use the console to complete this task.

Procedure

  1. Click System > System Settings.
  2. Expand Customize Name and complete the following fields:
    In System Display Name, type a name that describes the Cloud Pak System Software system. This name is displayed on the Cloud Pak System Software system console. The name must have the following characteristics:
    • The name cannot contain any of the following characters: 
      ; & # + \\ -
    • The value can be a maximum of 32 characters in length
    • "localhost" is not a supported value.
    In System Unique Name, type a unique name that identifies the Cloud Pak System Software system. The name is used to uniquely identify the Cloud Pak System Software system when running in the same virtual manager cloud group with other Cloud Pak System Software systems. The name must have the following characteristics:
    • The first character can be A-Z or a-z
    • The other characters can be alphanumeric or an en dash [ - ]
    • The value cannot end with the en dash character [ - ]
    • The value must be between 2 and 24 characters in length
    • "localhost" is not a supported value.
    The default value for System Unique Name is the installation name you defined when installing Cloud Pak System Software.
