Configure events as Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP) traps.

As part of configuring event forwarding, you must set your system information so your system is correctly identified.
Downloading MIBs
An MIB is a virtual database that is used for managing entities in a communications network used with SNMP. To use Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP) to monitor the status of a system that is part of a large group of systems in a data center, you must download a management information base (MIB).

Review the information for these fields so you can use them to aggregate and correlate events.
Downloading OMNIbus rules
OMNIbus rules provide a mechanism to collect event data by using high performance software probes. You can download the OMNIbus rules to work with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) monitoring.
Forwarding events to OMNIbus
The NcKL (IBM Tivoli Netcool Knowledge Library) format is used for the rules included in ipasRulesNckl_2_2_2_0.zip. These files are designed for use with the Netcool/OMNIbus Knowledge Library 2.x and 3.x rules. IBM's recommendation for the rules file format is NcKL.
Creating and deleting SNMP trap destinations
Events are configured as SNMP trap subscribers and are used to access the Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP) data on your system. When no longer needed, you can delete SNMP trap destinations.

You can set the time interval for events.
Configuring event notification
You can set notification so that users receive emails when critical events occur.
