Using the command line to start the external Cloud Pak System Software Agent Agent on a UNIX system or Linux computer

Start the Cloud Pak System Software Agent on a UNIX system or Linux® computer to allow it to collect performance and availability data for Cloud Pak System Software. An external Cloud Pak System Software Agent is installed outside of the Cloud Pak System Software.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have installed an external Cloud Pak System Software Agent on a UNIX or Linux computer in your environment.

About this task

If the Cloud Pak System Software Agent is installed on a UNIX system or Linux computer outside of the Cloud Pak System Software, do the following steps to start the agent:

Procedure

  1. Change to the bin directory: 
    cd install_dir/bin
    where install_dir is the installation directory of the Cloud Pak System Software Agent. The default is /opt/IBM/IBM.
  2. Run the following command: 
    ./itmcmd agent -o instance_name start q8
    where instance_name is the name of the agent instance that you want to start.

Results

After the external Cloud Pak System Software Agent is started, you can log on to Tivoli® Enterprise Portal to view the data collected by the agent.
