Configuring for email notification

You can configure your system settings to send an email notification that provides status information about complete or incomplete backup jobs.

About this task

To be notified of successful or unsuccessful backup operations, you should have basic system settings configured to define where email notifications should be sent.

Procedure

  1. Click System > System Settings.
  2. Expand the Mail Delivery section.
  3. Verify that the SMTP server and Reply-to address fields are completed.

  4. Click System > Users.If you are on 2.3.3.3 or later, click Security and access > Users.
  5. Click the admin user link and ensure that the Email address field is completed with the appropriate email address.

    When a backup operation is performed, the system sends an email notification to the specified address. The notification provides status information about complete or incomplete backup jobs.

    The Subject line of the email is in the following format:
    Subject system_number: job name (job_status)
    The subject line contains the following information:
    • system_number is the serial number for the system, which is useful when managing multiple systems.
    • job_name is the name of the current job.
    • job status indicates the completion state of the job (success or failure).
    The body of the email notification contains the following information:
    Job name
    The name of the backup job.
    Created time
    The date and time that the backup job started.
    Updated time
    The date and time of the last status change of the backup job.
    State
    Indicates if the current backup job completed successfully.
    Details
    Provides the backup status and duration for backing up the various artifacts, and the overall time to complete the job.

    The amount of available disk space on the backup repository is also displayed, in MB.
