Administering cloud groups

Use this menu to administer cloud group resources.

About this task

Cloud groups are organized compute nodes and IP groups. You can create and administer two types of cloud groups in the system: dedicated or average. Each type defines how resources are allocated to a virtual machine during deployment.

Table 1. Defined cloud groups.
Type Physical cores per compute node vCPUs per compute node Maximum vCPUs per virtual machine Memory
Dedicated n n - m n - m No overcommit
Average n (n - m) * 10 64 No overcommit
In the following table, n represents the number of physical cores in your compute node and m represents the number of physical cores allocated to the VIOS LPARS that you have defined in your compute node.

The following table shows how a virtual machine's CPU and memory reservations are mapped to hardware resources:
Table 2. Mapping of CPU and memory reservations to hardware resources
Type CPU count (1 vCPU) Virtual memory (1 MB)
Dedicated 1 physical core 1 physical MB
Average At least 0.1 physical core 1 physical MB
