Working with virtual application patterns

A virtual application is defined by a virtual application pattern.

The virtual application pattern is a complete set of platform resources that fulfill a business need, including web applications, databases, user registries, messaging services, and transaction processes. Each virtual application pattern is associated with a pattern type, which is a collection of plug-ins that provide these resources and services for a particular business purpose in the form of components, links and policies. The pattern types, product extensions of the cloud system, and the types of virtual application that you build depend on the pattern types that are enabled.
