Virtual application pattern types

Several virtual application pattern types are included with the product license.

The following table lists pattern types that are included with the product license.

Table 1. Pattern types that are included in the product license
Pattern type	Description
IBM® Foundation Pattern	A pattern type that provides shared services for deployed virtual application patterns and virtual system patterns such as monitoring and load balancing.
IBM Pattern for IBM Storage Scale	You can create a IBM Storage Scale Server Primary, Mirror, or Tiebreaker configuration by using one of the available virtual application templates provided with the IBM Pattern for IBM Storage Scale. Note: There is also a template for creating a IBM Storage Scale Server Passive configuration, but that type of configuration is not supported in IBM Cloud Pak System Software for Power®. You can also create virtual application patterns and virtual system patterns that contain application components that you can configure as IBM Storage Scale Clients that will access the IBM Storage Scale file system.
Application Pattern Type for Java™	A pattern type to build and deploy Java applications.
Hello Sample Pattern Type	A pattern type that contains several samples for use with the Plug-in Development Kit.

You can purchase more patterns from IBM Passport Advantage®. Refer to the offering page for the pattern for details about purchasing a license for the pattern, downloading the pattern, and to access the documentation for that pattern.

You can manage pattern types in the console. You can view pattern types, view the system plug-ins, import a pattern type, accept license agreements, and remove pattern types.

Important: The IBM Db2® with BLU Acceleration® Pattern is not installed to the system by default. If you attempt to deploy a pattern or template that uses the IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern and the pattern is not installed, the deployment fails. If you use the IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern, or you use a pattern or template that depends on that pattern, download the IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern from IBM Passport Advantage and import it to the system. After you import the pattern to the system, accept the license agreement and enable it. For more information about downloading and importing pattern types, see the Related tasks.
