Schedule or update a file system snapshot time interval

Use this operation to schedule or disable automatic snapshots for a specified IBM Storage Scale file system, and to update the file system snapshot frequency.

About this task

The file system snapshot is a snapshot of file system at a single point in time. Using this operation, you can schedule a new file system snapshot to be taken regularly. You can also disable an existing scheduled file system snapshot or enable a disabled scheduled file system snapshot.

During pattern deployment, if you enter a value for the field Snapshot Interval for the automatic snapshot (minutes), then a default snapshot, named fileSystemName_snap is scheduled. You can enable, disable, or change the time interval of this default snapshot by using this operation.

Procedure

  1. Expand the Create and Manage Snapshots section of the GPFS_Manager operations.
  2. Expand the Schedule or update a file system snapshot time interval node.
  3. To enable or disable the automatic snapshot function, select or clear the Enable Automatic Snapshot check box.
  4. With automatic snapshot enabled, in the Snapshot Interval field, specify the frequency, in minutes, for the snapshot operation to be performed.
For example, to specify a snapshot interval of one hour, enter 60.
  5. In the File system name field, specify the name of the IBM Storage Scale file system on which to apply this snapshot configuration.
  6. In the Snapshot name field, specify a unique name of the snapshot to associate with this operation on this file system.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Click Confirm when asked to validate your request.
