If the Cloud Pak System Software Agent is installed outside
of Cloud Pak System Software, you must configure
the agent before you can view the data that the agent collects.
Before you begin
Make sure that you have installed an external Cloud Pak System Software Agent in your
environment.
About this task
Use the following steps to configure the Cloud Pak System Software Agent that is
installed outside of Cloud Pak System Software.
If the Cloud Pak System Software Agent is
included in Cloud Pak System Software,
you do not need to configure it. If you log on to the virtual machine
in Cloud Pak System Software that
hosts the agent to configure it, you will find that those changes
do not take effect.
Procedure
- Run the following command:
./itmcmd config -A q8
where
q8 is the
product code of the
Cloud Pak System Software Agent.
- Enter a unique instance name for the agent and then press
Enter.
- Complete the following steps to edit the settings for the Cloud Pak System Software Agent:
- Press Enter when you are asked if you want to edit the
settings for the Cloud Pak System Software Agent.
If
it is the first time you configure the agent after installation, do
not type 2 to skip editing the settings of the agent, because it will
cause the agent to fail to start.
- Press Enter when you are asked if you want to edit the
settings of the Cloud Pak System Software agent
configuration.
If it is the first time you configure the

- Enter the IP address of Cloud Pak System Software and
press Enter.
- Enter the user name for accessing Cloud Pak System Software and
press Enter.
Ensure that the user is assigned the following
security roles:
- Cloud group administration (Read-only)
- Hardware administration (Read-only)
- Workload resource administration (Read-only)
Otherwise, the
Cloud Pak System Software Agent cannot
collect data for
Cloud Pak System Software.
- Enter the password that is associated with the user
name and press Enter.
- Re-type the password and then press Enter.
- Press Enter when you are asked if the agent connects to
a monitoring server.
- Complete the following steps to enter information for the
monitoring server that the agent connects to.
- Type the host name for the monitoring server.
- Type the protocol that you want to use to communicate
with the monitoring server.
You have four choices: ip,
sna, ip.pipe, or ip.spipe.
- If you want to set up a backup protocol, enter that
protocol and press Enter. If you do not want to use backup protocol,
press Enter without specifying a protocol.
- Depending on the type of protocol that you specified,
provide the following information when prompted:

- Press Enter to not specify the name of the KDC_PARTITION.
- Press Enter when you are asked if you want to configure
the connection to a secondary monitoring server. The default value
is no.
- Press Enter to accept the default for the Optional Primary
Network Name (none).
