IBM Cloud Pak System user interface menu

Use this information to work with the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface menu.

The Getting started page displays a tag with the logged-in system name next to Welcome to IBM Cloud Pak System.

IBM Cloud Pak System user interface menu options

The following options are available in the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface menu:
  • You can do the following tasks from the menu on the upper left of the page:
    • Click Getting started to return to the Getting started page from any IBM Cloud Pak System user interface page.
    • Click Patterns and select the appropriate sub-menu to provision patterns (virtual system, virtual applications, virtual appliance, shared patterns) or manage deployed pattern instances and deploy IBM Cloud Paks or other enterprise software.
    • Click Cloud and select the appropriate sub-menu to administer cloud resources in IBM Cloud Paks.
    • Click Reports and select the appropriate sub-menu to generate reports for Chargeback, IP Usage, License Usage, Product Licenses, and Machines Activity. For more information about reports, see Administering reports.
    • Click Hardware and select the appropriate sub-menu to administer the hardware resources in the system, including compute nodes, management nodes, storage devices, network devices, and external access networks.
    • Click Security and access and select the appropriate sub-menu to manage user, user groups, auditing, system security, and system activity. For more information about each of the topic, see Administering users, user groups, and security and Managing auditing.
    • Click System and select the appropriate sub-menu to configure IBM Installation Manager Repository, Key Manager Adapters, Management Domain Configuration, Organization Profiles, System Maintenance, System Settings, Network, and disaster recovery management.
    • Click Problem determination and select the appropriate sub-menu to troubleshoot workloads and system.
    • Click Pattern development and select the appropriate sub-menu to work with components, templates, tools, and fix packs.
  • The bell icon is visible on the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface only when any event or alert occurs and is available for the user.
  • Click the help icon on the upper right of the page to do the following tasks:
    • Click Help and select the appropriate model to view the IBM Documentation.
    • Click IBM support to go to the support site. From the support site, you can download fixes, open cases, view support handbook, and go through resources.
    • Click Service request tool to go to the tool to raise a service request.
    • Click About to know the version of IBM Cloud Pak System.
  • Click the user icon to do the following tasks:
    • View the currently logged in user.
    • Click Profile to view and manage the profile details of the logged in user..
    • Click Logout to log out of the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface.
  • On the upper right of the page under the menu, toggle between Show less or Show more to collapse or expand the Welcome to IBM Cloud Pak System pane.

The Let's get to work pane displays the following tiles for quick navigation:
  • Click View IBM Documentation to read documentation and learn more about the new features and improvements.
  • The following tabs are available for system management:
    • Manage your system > Configure the system settings
      • Configure the management network

        Configure the network address that is used to access management and deployment functions of the system.

      • Configure DNS servers

        Set the search order of the DNS servers.

      • Configure the date and time

        Specify the NTP servers that are used to manage the system clock.

    • Manage your system > Manage the infrastructure
      • View the Infrastructure Map

        Overview of the entire hardware structure in a graphical perspective. This includes the hardware layout and each component's conditions.

      • Manage compute resources

        View current status and details of the compute resources in the environment.

      • Manage storage resources

        View state, type, and allocation of the storage resources in the environment.

    • Manage your system > Problem determination and monitoring
      • View events

        Observe what is happening in the environment.

      • Troubleshooting

        View the current status, metrics, and details of the system. Also, helps to determine issues if any.

    • Configure your cloud > Build the cloud environment
      • Add IP groups

        Create, edit, and view details of the IP group.

      • Add cloud groups

        Create, edit, and view details of the cloud groups.

      • Create environment profiles

        Create, clone, and edit environment profiles.

    • Configure your cloud > Working with virtual machines
      • Create virtual appliance instances

        Load a virtual appliance and then create a virtual appliance instance based on existing resources.

      • View virtual machines

        View the current status, metrics, and details of the virtual machine in the cloud.

      • Manage the volumes

        Apply operations to volumes, including creating a new volume.

    • Work with your patterns > Working with virtual systems
      • Add virtual images

        Provide new virtual images to the catalog by uploading files or extending pre-built images.

      • Create a virtual system pattern

        Create a custom virtual system pattern from items in the inventory.

      • Create a virtual system instance

        Create a virtual system instance by deploying a virtual system pattern.

      • View virtual system instances

        View the current status, metrics, and details of the virtual systems in the cloud.

    • Work with your patterns > Working with virtual applications
      • Set up pattern types

        Install and configure the pattern types to enable the creation of virtual application patterns.

      • Create a virtual application pattern

        Create a virtual application pattern using the Pattern Builder.

      • Create a virtual application instance

        Create a virtual application instance by deploying a virtual application pattern.

      • View virtual application instances

        View the current status, metrics, and details of the virtual application instances.

In the Help and documentation section, click the tiles that are customized according to your model type to view the appropriate section of the IBM Documentation. Click IBM Documentation to go to the welcome page or the landing page of IBM Documentation.
