Monitoring classic virtual system instances
You can monitor classic virtual system instances that are deployed in the cloud.
Before you begin
Note: The Virtual System Patterns (Classic) is not supported in IBM Cloud Pak System Software version 2.3.5 and
later.
You must have the Workload resources administration with full permissions to complete this task.
If you want to monitor classic virtual system instances,
you must deploy more shared services. These steps apply to classic virtual system instances that
were:
- Deployed from classic virtual system patterns.
- Promoted from classic virtual system patterns and still use hypervisor images.
- Deployed from virtual system patterns.
For these classic virtual system instances:
- If you want to monitor a classic virtual system instance that contains a WebSphere® Application Server hypervisor image, ensure that the System Monitoring for WebSphere Application server shared service is deployed.
- If you want to monitor an IBM® HTTP Server, ensure that the System Monitoring for HTTP Servers shared service is deployed.
About this task
The System Monitoring shared service provides the monitoring infrastructure that allows monitoring agents to collect performance and availability information. You can use this information to troubleshoot your system and make business decisions about your hardware and service usage.
You can extend the System Monitoring shared service to collect performance and availability data about middleware in a cloud group. Monitoring services for middleware are separate shared services that are deployed in addition to the base System Monitoring shared service.
Procedure
