Adjusting virtual machine health status threshold values

You can adjust the virtual machine health status threshold values by editing the monitoring plug-in in the IBM® Foundation Pattern Type.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the Create new catalog content role or the Workload resources administration role with full permissions to complete this task.

About this task

The virtual machine health status is determined by processor, memory, and storage metrics. The default threshold values that are configured in this task activate after deployment. Existing virtual machines are not updated when these values are changed. All three metric types use the following default threshold values:
  • If the value is at or above 80%, the health state is Warning.
  • If the value is at or above 90% the health state is Critical.
  • Otherwise, the health state is Normal.
If any of the metrics are in Warning state, the virtual machine Status and Deployment status displays the secondary Warning status if it is in the Running state. If any of the metrics are in Critical state, the virtual machine Status and Deployment status displays the secondary Critical status if it is in the Running state.
