Stop operations
In a stop.py Python script or stop.sh shell script, you can use the isDestroy method to determine whether the virtual application should be stopped only or if the stop operation is intended for deleting the application and destroying virtual machines. This method verifies whether an isDestroy flag is set for the virtual application.
Creating your own database plug-in
If you want to develop a plug-in to support your own database, you can create one based on the wasdb2 plug-in.
Configuring plug-ins for pattern type upgrades
When a user installs a new version of a pattern type, the user can choose to upgrade an existing virtual application instance with the new pattern type version. A plug-in can include scripts to back up data before an upgrade is started in case an upgrade fails.
Product-specific settings for pattern types and plug-ins
Multiple IBM® products support virtual application patterns. To support situations where requirements are different for each product, pattern types and plug-ins can contain product-specific conditions. If you are using pattern types and plug-ins that are provided by IBM to develop your own plug-ins and pattern types, you need to understand how this capability works.
Managing changes in a cluster by using a quorum leader
If a role is associated with a cluster, meaning more than one software instance, you can define one or more instances as the quorum leader to coordinate changes to all members the cluster.
