Configuring your system details

As part of configuring event forwarding, you must set your system information so your system is correctly identified.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the Hardware administration role with permission to Manage hardware resources (Full permission) to perform these steps.

About this task

You can use the console, the command line interface, or the REST API to complete this task. For the command line and REST API information, see the Related information section.

Procedure

  1. Click System > System Settings.
  2. Expand Events.
  3. In the System Identification table, complete the following fields:
    Cloud Pak System Software name
    Specifies the name that is used to identify the system. This information is included with SNMP alert notifications to identify the source of the alert.
    Cloud Pak System Software contact
    Specifies the name and phone number of the contact for this system if there are problems.
    Cloud Pak System software location
    Specifies the physical location of the system so that it can be quickly located for maintenance.
  4. Click Save.

What to do next

To ensure that traps are delivered as expected, if the SNMP Manager tool has a allow list of accepted incoming IP addresses, all Platform System Manager IP addresses, including the primary IP address for each Platform System Manager, and the floating IP address, must be added to the list, each on the port that is being used.
