Encrypting data for virtual application patterns and virtual system patterns

You can encrypt data for virtual application patterns and virtual system patterns.

About this task

You can encrypt application data that is stored on disk by applying an encryption policy either at the application level or to a specific component that supports the policy.

First, you must import the pattern type for your encryption software. Depending on the pattern type that you use, you might be required to configure a system plug-in that is associated with that pattern type. Next, apply the encryption policy to your virtual application pattern or virtual system pattern to encrypt data that is stored on disk in the specified directories. You can apply the policy globally at the application level, or apply it to a specific component that supports the policy.

Note: Some encryption products might offer the option to use script packages instead of an encryption policy. This script package option is not supported for encrypting virtual application patterns or virtual system patterns in Cloud Pak System Software.
