Connecting to a IBM Storage Scale Server that is not specified by the IBM shared service for IBM Storage Scale

Starting with the IBM® Pattern for IBM Storage Scale V1.2.15.0, you can specify a IBM Storage Scale Server that is not configured in the IBM shared service for IBM Storage Scale either at deployment time or after deployment.

IBM Storage Scale clients that use the IBM Storage Scale client policy

When you use the IBM Storage Scale Client Policy with virtual application patterns and virtual system patterns, you can specify a IBM Storage Scale Server at deployment time, or after deployment by using the Connect to Server operation.

At deployment time, expand the GPFS Manager IP and Client Key section on the Configure page. Specify the Manager IP address and Client Key for the IBM Storage Scale Server that you want to use for the deployment in the GPFS Manager IP and Client Key field.

To update the IBM Storage Scale Server for a deployed instance, use the Connect to Server operation. For more information, see Connect to Server operation.

IBM Storage Scale Clients that use the IBM Storage Scale script packages

When you use the IBM Storage Scale script packages with virtual system patterns, you can connect to a IBM Storage Scale Server after deployment by using the Connect to Server operation available with the GPFS Client Operations script package. Additionally, you can use the Connect to Server operation available from the Manage Operations page on the user interface to specify new values for Manager IP and Client Key that can be used by this client instance. The Manage Operations page has the same functions as the operation available when using the client policy. For more information, see Connect to Server operation.
Restriction: The Connect to Server operation, available from the Manage Operations page, is not supported for use with classic virtual system patterns.
